Cable & drum replacement
A frayed cable, or a wrap that has jumped the drum groove.
Call 01632 960 391The lift cable carries the door’s hanging weight and winds onto the drum as the door rises. A frayed cable or a wrap that has left its groove lets one side drop. We replace cables to length, seat the wraps in the drum grooves, and set both drums to lift level.

- Aircraft-grade lift cables replaced to the door’s drop
- Drums seated and set square on the torsion shaft
- Both sides set to lift level — a racked door tears its own rollers
- Bottom brackets inspected (never removed under spring tension)
Where it sits on the door’s travel
Cable winding onto the drum. At this point the drawing on our homepage reads 3.8 turns still wound in the spring and 72 lb on the cables — the counterbalance the whole system is built around. Get that number wrong and the door fights the opener, the rollers and itself.
