A hand drilling a fixing hole in a punched steel track on a workbench, with steel filings around it

Every panel of a sectional door runs on rollers in two steel tracks. The rollers are the part that wears first: the cheap steel ones that come with many doors lose their bearings, go flat and start to grind. Left long enough, one jumps out of the track at the curve and the door jams.

What we do

If the door is off its track we take the weight off with clamps, bring the panel back into line and re-seat every roller. Then we check the tracks themselves: bent sections are straightened or replaced, and loose fixings into the frame are re-drilled and re-fixed so the track cannot spread again.

We fit sealed-bearing nylon rollers as standard. They are quieter than steel and do not need oiling. A full set for a single door is £129 fitted; a double door with more panels is £159.

Hinges and panels

When a roller fails, the hinge it sits in takes the strain and can crack or tear out of the panel. Hinges are a few pounds each and we carry them. A panel with a torn fixing can usually be repaired with a reinforcing plate; a panel that is creased across its width needs replacing, which we quote separately.

A note on noise

Most noisy doors need nothing more than rollers and a proper lubricant. If yours rumbles, a service at £89 often cures it and tells you whether rollers are due.
