A garage door opens and closes around 1,500 times a year. Springs lose a little tension every season, cables rust at the bottom brackets, and fixings shake loose. None of it shows until the day the door will not open.

A yearly service catches those faults while they are still cheap.

What the service covers

We start with the balance test. With the opener released, we lift the door to half height and let go. A balanced door stays where it is. If it drifts down or flies up, we adjust the spring tension until it holds.

Then we go round every moving part: cables for fraying, drums and bearings for wear, rollers for flat spots, hinges for cracks, and every fixing into the frame. Moving parts get a dry silicone lubricant that does not collect grit.

On electric doors we finish with the opener: force and travel limits, the safety sensors, the auto-reverse when the door meets an obstruction, and every remote.

What you get

A short written report of what we found, what we adjusted and anything that will need attention in the next year, with a fixed price beside it. Nothing is replaced on a service without your say.

Service plan

Customers on our £79 yearly plan get the service at a reminder they do not have to book, and 10% off any repair in the year.

“One side of the door had dropped about a foot and I was sure it needed replacing. Kelmer put two new cables on, levelled it, and told me straight that the door has another ten years in it.”

    A. P., Mickleover

“The opener had been clicking for a week. The engineer found a worn gear, fitted it on the spot and showed me the old one. Cheaper than the new motor I had been quoted elsewhere.”
